The "Cool Parents"

Image
Today, my 11-year-old came home from school and told me that my husband and I were voted "The cool parents."  I laughed when he said that and asked what that meant, and he said it meant we were the less strict parents of all of his friends and among other reasons,  that we "let him say swear words."  🙊 This might come off as a shock and controversial, but My husband and I both feel, that they are only words and yes, they have the ability to hold tremendous power depending on the context, but our rule is, if you say a swear word in or out of this house, it is NEVER allowed to be said in anger directed towards someone else. EVER. PERIOD.  They also may NEVER EVER swear at or around a teacher, another parent, or adult. EVER.  Those rules are imprinted into our children's brains, and if they break said rules, then yes they will have major consequences.  Nothing drastic of course,  but that kind of behavior is 100% not OK with us.   I don't...

Dude, Where's My Blog?

Image
Hello...It's Me... I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet?...  (Sorry I couldn't resist quoting Adele right there.) Happy New Year! It's 2022, and in the spirit of new beginnings, fresh starts, and whatnot I officially, totally, 100% completely forgot that I had started writing this blog 2. years. ago. 😬... cue the eye rolls, the "what the hell's", the questions, the judging, the laughter... I get it. I deserve it. But, along with all of the shaming that just occurred, cue the deep breaths, the self-love, the acceptance, the understanding, the laughter.  Life is busy, shit disappears... only to be picked back up, and dusted off to begin again. Have any of you busy, over-scheduled, distracted, going in a million-and-one directions Mamas, ever had an experience like this?  I honestly don't really know what happened, or why I just stopped and dropped off the face of the earth. All I know is that it's 2 years later, and I have a...

Mommy's Little Helper

Image
Good Morning! This post is about my new best friend in the kitchen..  Our New Blender Before this little wonder came into my life, I never had any time in the morning to eat breakfast myself!  My husband is the greatest and is usually the first one awake, and he handles breakfast for the kids.  I handle damage control, making sure teeth are brushed, clothes are on, backpacks are packed etc....  Which usually leads to me asking 10 times to get teeth brushed, to put clothes on and pack backpack...Oh and yes my favorite morning routine- playing 'hide and go seek' with ONE LOST SHOE...(seriously where does it go)?!  After all is said and done, we are barreling into the car to make it to school on time! Which explains, why I could never make time for myself to sit and have anything to eat! This is where my little helper comes in to the story!#ad  The Ninja Blender    I have been able to start my day with a delicious and healthy smoothie...

Super Bowl Monday?

Image
Hi!! So before I start I have the need to gloat a little and say GO PATS!  Ok...and done! I know that last night's game wasn't the most eventful super bowl of all time, but being a New England Patriots fan (from New England) I'm pretty happy about the win. Ok- So, it's Monday, the day after Super Bowl Sunday, and I am currently writing this blog, while my 5-year-old daughter is drawing next to me, and my 8-year-old son is playing math games on his laptop.  Yep...I kept my kids home from school today.  Here's the thing,  we were with family watching the game until the end, which ended after 10pm...  Our usual bedtime is to get into bed at 7:30 asleep by 8:30, so the fact that they got to stay up that late was a total treat. When I woke up this morning, I had two options... 1) pull me out of bed and wake up my sleeping kids to get them ready for school, where they most likely will be grumpy, and distracted, and tired all day making their wonderfu...

Mama is Sleepy!

This post is all about sleep.  Beautiful, wonderful, snug as a bug -in- a rug sleep!  As a parent, we all know that the days of sleeping like a baby are pretty few and far between once you have a baby (I'm pretty sure the person that coined that phrase did NOT have a baby)... I was inspired to write this because I had a friend ask me recently how I was able to get my kids to sleep through the night when they were babies.  I desperately wanted to pretend that it was easy, that I had little sleeping cherubs nestled in their cribs that would sleep from 7-7 at 6 weeks old... I have heard of this happening before, but it was 100% never in my house.  I literally laughed at the question because the truth is, my kids never slept through the night...Like... ever.  My oldest, slept in a bassinet in our room until he was 7 months old. #firsttimeparentproblems.  My daughter, our second child, was a little better, sleeping in her bassinet in our room unt...
